New and used tires in Amarillo, TX

Most tire shops make you drive to them, sit in a waiting room, and hope they have your size in stock. We do it the other way around. E&C Roadside Service carries new and used tires and brings them to you, whether that’s your driveway, your workplace parking lot, or the shoulder of I-40. Mobile tire appointments are available seven days a week, not just for emergencies.

New or used: how to think about it

A new tire is usually the safer call if you put on a lot of miles, tow anything, or need a size that’s hard to find used. A used tire in good condition can be a fair option if you need something to get you through until you can budget for a full set, or if the vehicle isn’t worth investing top-dollar rubber into. We’ll tell you honestly what we have on hand and let you decide. We’re not going to push a new tire you don’t need, or hand you a used one that won’t hold up.

What to check on a used tire

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says tires are not safe and should be replaced once the tread is worn down to 2/32 of an inch. NHTSA’s quick check is the penny test: put a penny in the tread with Lincoln’s head upside down and facing you. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, replace the tire. (Source: NHTSA, Tires.) Age matters too, since a tire with plenty of tread left can still have dry, cracked rubber from sitting for years. Ask to look at both the tread and the sidewall before you commit to a tire, used or new.

Matching the tire to the vehicle

Tire size isn’t the only thing that matters. Load rating and speed rating should be at least what the vehicle originally came with, especially if you’re towing or carrying much weight. Mixing tread patterns or sizes across an axle can also cause handling issues. When you call, have your current tire size ready (it’s printed on the sidewall), and tell us if you tow or haul, so we bring the right option instead of just the right size.

How it works when you call

  1. Call (806) 471-0109. Tell us your tire size and whether you want new, used, or whichever gets you rolling fastest.
  2. We tell you what we have and quote the price. No guessing at cost once the truck shows up at your door.
  3. We come to you. Home, work, or wherever the vehicle is parked.
  4. We mount it on the spot. No dropping the car off and waiting on a call back.

Why this beats a shop visit

A shop visit means driving in, sometimes on a tire you’re not sure will make it, then waiting for an open bay. We skip that part entirely. Your schedule stays yours, and the vehicle doesn’t move again until the new tire is already on it.

Mobile tire appointments, seven days a week

This isn’t limited to breakdowns. If you already know you need a tire, or two, or a full set, call ahead and set a time that works for you. We cover Amarillo and the surrounding Panhandle, including Canyon and Hereford.

For a flat that can’t wait, see 24/7 roadside tire service. For semis and commercial trucks, see semi truck tire service. Or request service online and we’ll call you back to set a time.

Are mobile tire shops worth it?

If the alternative is driving on a bad tire to get to a shop, or losing half a day in a waiting room, yes. You’re paying for the tire to come to you instead of the other way around, and the price is quoted before we ever get in the truck.

Can I request a used tire specifically?

Yes. Tell us what you’re looking for when you call and we’ll let you know what we have in that size before we drive out.

Do I have to be broken down to call, or can I just schedule a tire change?

Either one. Mobile tire appointments are available seven days a week, so you can replace worn tires on your own schedule, not just in an emergency.

Do you sell tires without mounting them, like a counter shop would?

We’re a mobile service, so our setup is built around bringing the tire to your vehicle and mounting it there. If you need something different, call and ask.

What if I only need one tire replaced, not a full set?

That’s fine. Tell us which tire and what size, and we’ll bring one out. A full set is fine too if that’s what you need, but there’s no minimum.
